New windows for astrophysics: the number of established photon sources as a function of the year (compiled by M de Naurois, updated by C Spiering). X-ray and MeV-GeV sources were discovered with satellites, and TeV sources were found by using Earth-bound imaging air Cherenkov telescopes.
